The word "crescent" is derived from two Latin words, meaning bring forth, create and grow, thrive. Likewise, Half Moon Yoga was derived from the dream of two sisters, a dream to do just that - create, grow, and thrive! We are beyond excited to see our dreams unfolding and we are even more excited that you've decided to be part of our journey. 

Marissa Sherrill, Founder & Instructor

The dreamer, Marissa is married to Jesse and together they are parents to Zoey, Madeleine and Eleanor Alice, and dog mom to Tessa. So many spirited females under one roof! 

Marissa has always loved to move her body. Her yoga practice began as a way to stretch sore muscles during her first pregnancy 7 years ago, and has developed into a routine and transformative part of her life, mentally and physically.  Marissa studied and trained in Power Vinyasa Yoga with Sean and Karen Conley of Amazing Yoga.

Marissa ended up in Pittsburgh as an adult to pursue nursing, a proud graduate of Shadyside School of Nursing. After enjoying a few years working in an acute care setting, she has shifted her focus to align with her passion and to accommodate her growing family.  Marissa continues to work as a nurse in private duty settings with beloved clients and their families. She also works as a personal wellness coach, cultivating healthy nutrition habits and an active lifestyle to create the environment for health care to begin within-one person at a time!

Marissa resides in Jeannette with her family and is passionate about being a good neighbor and making an impact in her community. She loves to dance, run, sing, practice yoga, read and pray.


Elizabeth Smith, Founder & Director

The doer, Elizabeth is married to Ryan and together they are parents to Cora June. A sweet little trio.

A graduate from University of Pittsburgh, Elizabeth studied Communications and Public Relations. She has a passion for putting dreams in motion. She is the planner, organizer, and coordinator for all things Half Moon Yoga. 

Elizabeth is still a novice to the practice of yoga. She began to explore Vinyasa yoga after the birth of her first child as a way to relieve stress, clear her mind, and care for her body, but she was hooked from her very first "om." 

Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family, whether it's  taking bike rides, camping, or game nights. She also enjoys reading, crafting, and drinking wine!
